With all this there’s a reason so many move to South Beach every year and invest in South Beach real estate. When getting a condo on South Beach you’ll want to keep some tips in mind before buying.
What To Look For In A Condo
Condos are a popular place to live in South Beach Condos and a good many are right on the water. Still, there are a few key things you’re going to want to look at before purchasing. This is a quick list of things you should look for when purchasing South Beach real estate.
1. The View: South Beach is lovely and your condo could be overlooking one of its many beaches or the sea. The main thing is your windows taking advantage of this? Aside from a nice view you’re also going to want to make sure you buy a place that has plenty of windows and ways to let in natural light. The climate in South Beach is a sunny one and you’re going to want to take advantage.
2. Ceiling Height: a good rule to remember is you want around fourteen feet for your ceiling. Anything lower than that and you feel snug and trapped in. Anything higher is nice, but is often not worth the expense for the resulting benefit.
3. Construction Style: looks do matter and when it comes to a condo you want it to look nice. A condo is a place you’ll own for many years if you’re lucky and you want looks that will stand the test of time. So get something you can see yourself enjoying now, tomorrow, and ten years from now. If you’ve got no eye for looks then think in terms of function and go towards solid construction.
4. The Floorplan: you probably don’t want your bedroom opening into your kitchen. Go for something that has a defined floorplan and separates your private areas, such as your bedroom and bathroom, away from the more public areas such as the living room. Plus, you’ll want to avoid designs that waste space with unneeded hallways, odd angles, and too many support columns.
5. Windows: no the quick answer isn’t “As many as possible.” Windows add light and openness to your home but they can also cost you money. South Beach is hot and you’ll want to make sure your windows are well insulated. Every bit of cold air that escapes due to bad insulation is the longer you have to keep the air on to replace it. Overtime having to run your air longer than you should have to add up and can cost you a surprising amount.
6. Storage Room: stuff piles up and its very easy to end up with more of it than you planned. So to avoid annoyances make sure you have plenty of storage space in the condo of your choosing. This includes both closets and any other storage space you may get, such as in the basement or storage rooms. It may not seem like much, but clutter is a real annoyance to live with on a daily basis.
